Join us in the beautiful Z Atrium for a concert by Kazoku Saxophone Quartet! They will be playing sets at 3:00 and 4:30 pm.

Supported by a generous grant from the Houston Arts Alliance and the City of Houston, Kazoku Quartet is proud to present the world premieres of two newly commissioned works by Houston composers Mark Buller and Kyle Kindred.

Mark Buller’s four-movement composition draws inspiration from Gonzo247’s iconic Houston Is Inspired mural at 907 Preston Street. Each movement reflects one of the mural’s four defining words—Hip, Tasty, Funky, and Savvy—capturing the city’s vibrant character through music.

Kyle Kindred’s new work was inspired by the response of Bering Church and members of the Houston community following the removal of the rainbow crosswalk in the Montrose District. As residents created their own rainbows to symbolize peace, inclusion, and acceptance, Kindred transformed that powerful expression of unity into a compelling musical statement.

The program also features ten short works by student composers from the University of Houston, Houston Community College, Texas Southern University, and Sam Houston State University. Each miniature offers a unique musical reflection on Houston, celebrating the city’s rich culture, diversity, and creative spirit.
