Golfstrømmen is Norwegian for ‘gulf stream’ — the warm current that flows across the Atlantic Ocean to the Norwegian west coast, that also symbolizes the gastronomic connective tissue that unites the culinary minds of Norwegian Chef Christopher Haatuft and James Beard Award-winning Chef Paul Qui. The restaurant received the top honor in Houston Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants list in 2022.

Once dubbed the “punk chef godfather of Neo-Fjordic cuisine,” Haatuft brings not only a fresh seafood menu with his Nordic bent but will also sell fresh Gulf seafood. Of note, sustainability is  a core value for Haatuft and his market will sell and prepare only sustainably and ethically harvested seafood.

Christopher Haatuft is a chef and restaurateur from Norway who runs several restaurants in Bergen, a city on the west coast of Norway. He is deeply involved in sustainability efforts through his seafood restaurant Lysverket as well as in his role as an advisor in the impact fund Astanor Ventures. With a background from some of the best restaurants in the world, he is now looking forward to exploring the big flavors, unique produce and delicious seafood of Texas.
